About us

Surprisingly, it may seem, the makeup of our team is more international than local. We take in many members straight off the boat, as it were, with links to ACCA, VADB and Ice Dragons. Amongst our current crew we have Australians, New Zealanders, South Africans, Dutch, Malaysians and Singaporeans. Yet we have a strong local base of Brits who formed the original team, many from London but from as far a field as Scotland.

Our racing season is between March and October and our training is all year round. Raging Dragons is more than just a dragon boat team, we're group of really good friends on and off the boat! It has taken 5 years of persistence and graft to get to where we are today. The commitment of our members to the ideal of race hard, train harder has taken over many lives and left those with the bug, completely hooked. When we're not training we play hard too!

2010 was Raging Dragons the best year ever!

We entered the 2010 season with a new crew that only had half a season's experience from 2009. Having never done dragon boating before the coaches had a tough job of training this new team all through the winter and up to BDA Premier League standards.

The team started the season strong, full of promise, and we were consistently in the top spots for the 200m category. This consistency paid dividend when Raging Dragons ended the 2010 season placed 2nd in the 200m, the best result in all of Rage's relatively little history!

We look forward to a new 2011 season - same as before we'll be working on technique, stamina, timing and power, and aim to top the Premier League once again!
